The author of several books, including Jump Starts: Wit and Wisdom to Super Charge Your Day, Tim Richardson believes real richness is about “living rich” – a life of giving, influencing, and serving. Tim believes becoming rich has almost nothing to do with money and everything to do with personal and professional richness and has spent the greater part of his life thinking about and researching what he calls "Real Richness.

Based on Tim’s project, which annually honors the 100 “Richest” people in North America, this inspiring presentation will uplift and encourage attendees to see beyond the physical world, and embrace what is truly valuable. With heart-warming stories of ordinary people achieving the extraordinary, attendees will learn to see themselves, and others, from the inside out.

 

2011 AASC National Conference Keynote SpeakerKathy Greenlee

Assistant Secretary for Aging
Administration on Aging, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Tuesday, August 30, 8:00- 10:00 am

As head of the Administration on Aging (AoA), Greenlee oversees the agency's programs and services for senior citizens under the Health and Human Services Department. Through funding from the Older American's Act, AoA runs more than two dozen wide-reaching programs, including the Alzheimer's Disease Supportive Services Program, the National Center for Senior Benefits, and the National Center on Elder Abuse.

Greenlee's interest and involvement in the live's of America's aging population stems from a long list of experience. Prior to being appointed as the head of AoA in 2009, Greenlee served as the Secretary of Aging in Kansas.

Hear from this member of the Obama Administration on a number of current issues affecting the aging residents you work with, including the impending reauthorization of the Older Americans Act as well as enacted health care reform initiatives.

Senior Advisor to HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan
Department of Housing and Urban Development

How can the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) work with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)? Hear from the Senior Advisor to HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan on the collaborations between HUD and HHS to intersect housing and human service needs for older adults and persons with disabilities. Karnas will touch on the importance of this work, particuarly in the context of OAA reauthorization in order to support aging in place and quality living environments for seniors.

Karnas is no stranger to the housing world. Prior to his current position, he served as director of the Arizona Department of Housing. Karnas also served as HUD deputy assistant secretary from 1995-2000.

Through humor, Risberg will present You Make a Difference!, designed to inspire attendees to recognize their own talents and contributions as well as the talents and contributions of each of their colleagues and peers.

Risberg is the author of two books, Touch: A Personal Workbook and the soon to be published 52 Ways to Fill Your Life With Humor, Happiness and Hope.
